Electricians (except industrial and power system) in Prince Edward Island

Directory only: the national profile says construction electrician certification is compulsory in Prince Edward Island, and the authority is the Apprenticeship Section of Education and Lifelong Learning. The province's site refuses automated requests, so we have read nothing of its requirements; ask it directly.

What Employment and Social Development Canada publishes about the employment requirements for this occupation, nationally. A national statement is not a provincial requirement, and only the body above can say what applies to you here.

• Completion of secondary school is usually required.
• Completion of a four- to five-year apprenticeship program is usually required.
• Trade certification for construction electricians is compulsory in Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta and available, but voluntary, in British Columbia, the Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
• Trade certification for electricians (domestic and rural) is compulsory in Newfoundland and Labrador and Ontario.
• Trade certification for electrical control (machine) builders is available, but voluntary, in Ontario.
• Red Seal endorsement is also available to qualified construction electricians upon successful completion of the interprovincial Red Seal examination.

• Foreign Credential Recognition Tool (Job Bank) (Employment and Social Development Canada): Check whether your occupation is regulated or compulsory where you plan to work, and find the regulatory authority to contact. This is the official lookup, province by province.
• Foreign credential recognition (Employment and Social Development Canada): What credential recognition is, which occupations are regulated, and the programs that help with it.
• Get your education credentials assessed (Express Entry) (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada): IRCC’s own page on the assessment it accepts for an application, who may issue one, and how long it stays valid.
• Ellis Chart: designated trades in Canada (Employment and Social Development Canada with the Canadian Council of Directors of Apprenticeship): Every designated trade, where certification is compulsory, and which trades carry the Red Seal endorsement. The chart itself, including the trades we did not match to this occupation.
• Red Seal trades (Employment and Social Development Canada with the Canadian Council of Directors of Apprenticeship): The 54 trades with a Red Seal endorsement, which lets a certified tradesperson work in another province without being certified again.

This is not a complete directory of regulated occupations in Canada. A pathway becomes public only when one of our lawyers publishes it, which they may do only where every mandatory requirement on it rests on an excerpt from the regulator’s own page: publishing records the lawyer’s name and the day, so there are occupations and provinces we simply have not reached. Where we have not, we say so and send you to the official lookup and to the regulator itself, which are the places that can answer for your case in any event.
