Business systems specialists in British Columbia

Turn the occupation’s requirements into an evidence checklist

These are the national employment requirements for NOC 21221. They may cover several job titles. Keep “usually,” “may” and any named provincial limits: they do not mean every item is mandatory for your own role.

• A bachelor's degree in computer science, business administration, information systems or a related discipline or completion of a college program in computer science is usually required.

How to prepare: Locate the qualification and academic record that address this requirement. Ask the receiving employer or body whether it needs an assessment, course outlines or records sent directly by your school before ordering or translating them.

• Certification or training provided by software vendors may be required by some employers.

How to prepare: Identify the exact licence, registration or designation named here. Match your intended duties and province to its application category before paying for training. If this says “may” or applies to only some jobs, first establish whether your particular role needs it.

Credentials you can prepare for in this field

Choose a credential that fits your intended role and existing experience. These are separate options, not a list you must complete. A course or designation does not replace a provincial licence.

Prepare, apply and complete the remaining steps

Use this checklist for your chosen role, alongside any profession-specific guidance on this page. “Start before you leave” describes preparation you can begin abroad; it does not promise every application or examination can be completed there.

Use your intended duties, not just your job title, to establish who accepts your qualifications in British Columbia.

   • Use occupation code 21221 and the exact role you intend to do. A code can contain several professions with different requirements.
   • The employment requirements on this page mention licensing or certification. Identify the application category for someone trained in your country and confirm whether it controls the work, a protected title, or both.
   • Keep the recipient’s document checklist and application reference together. An educational assessment for immigration does not by itself grant a professional licence.

Choosing the recipient and preparing an application can begin before travel. Actual submission eligibility depends on the route.
